Opera Java setup

This web page uses screenshots to walk you through the process of configuring Java settings on the Opera web browser.  These instructions are specific to the student computers in the Computer Lab.

You can view a larger version of each of the below screenshots by clicking on the image.

First, start Opera.  The following screenshot demonstrates how to start it on the Computer Lab's computers.  On those computers, Opera is in the Internet menu on the Applications main menu.

Once Opera has started, you need to get into its Preferences settings.  Those are in the Tools menu.

Below is how the Preferences window looks when it initially appears.  Go to the Advanced settings.

Now that the Advanced settings are displayed, go into its Content settings.

In the Content settings, check "Enable Java" then click on the "Java Options" button.

Now enter the location where Java is located (i.e. the Java path).  Enter EXACTLY what is shown in the screenshot:
/usr/java/latest/jre/lib/i386

Then click OK.  Click OK again when you're back at the Preferences window.
